Follow this checklist to apply for the program.

Apply by the Application Deadline. It is recommended that you apply early; complete applications are reviewed as they are submitted.

    On the top portion of the form, please indicate the following to help us identify your program:

  • Application Essay
    In approximately 250 words, describe why you selected this program and how it suits your academic and personal goals. Include dates and information on any previous international experience living, traveling, or studying abroad.

  • Academic Recommendationpdf (not required for May term program)
    The recommendation must be from a French instructor (preferably college-level). If you have not taken a French course, please get a recommendation from an academic adviser or professor.

  • College Transcript
    Submit an official or unofficial copy of your college transcript.

  • Method of Payment Form pdf
    Submit a $50 non-refundable application fee with this form.

 

  • Internship Application (optional)
  • The internship application deadline is May 15 for Fall semester and Academic Year students and Nov. 15 for Spring semester students.

  • Low GPA Essay
    In approximately 250 words, describe your academic strengths and any extenuating academic or personal circumstances that have contributed to your GPA being lower than what is required for this program.
  • Special Circumstances Recommendation pdf
    A recommendation should come from a professor, advisor, or TA who can speak to your academic strengths and recommend you for participation although your GPA is lower than what is required for this program. This recommendation is in addition to any other recommendations required by the program.

Eligibility Requirements
This program is open to all individuals. Eligibility does not require student or University of Minnesota status. Students meeting the criteria below are qualified to apply for this program:

* Participants with only two semesters of French must enroll in a French course during the term prior to participation (excluding summer).

Next Steps

Here's what to expect after submitting your application to the Learning Abroad Center:

  1. The Learning Abroad Center sends an email notification to confirm that your application was received.
  2. The Learning Abroad Center emails you to request missing items if your application is incomplete.
  3. Your completed application is reviewed.
  4. The Learning Abroad Center emails you within 3–4 weeks with a decision regarding your acceptance into the program.
  5. If accepted, follow the instructions outlined in the acceptance email. You need to pay a program deposit to the Learning Abroad Center.
  6. If you choose not to complete the application process, email the program contact.
