Confirmation Checklist

Follow this checklist to confirm your place in the program.

Note: If you plan to use financial aid (loans, grants, scholarships) to cover costs for your study abroad experience, you are encouraged to schedule a financial aid preview meeting prior to submitting your confirmation deposit.

	Review the Learning Abroad Center Cancellation Policy before turning in your confirmation materials
	Print & submit materials to the Learning Abroad Center by the date indicated on your acceptance email: Confirmation & Payment Agreement (after completion, a $400 non-refundable deposit will be billed to your U of M student finance account) Release & Waiver Health Information Form Transcript Request Form (non-University of Minnesota participants only) Family Placement Form Letter of introduction to host family 2 photos of you with family/friends for host family Internship Placement Form (see Internship Overview) Five Passport-Sized Photos (for administrative use on site) Photocopy of Passport (If you do not have a passport, submit the photocopy separately when you obtain it. Apply for your passport immediately upon applying to the program; it is required for a Kenyan pupil-pass. Without a pupil pass, you are unable to study in Kenya and are unable to participate in the MSID program.)
	Print & submit materials to the Learning Abroad Center prior to departure: Academic Planning Form (University of Minnesota–Twin Cities undergraduate students only) Copy of notarized Power of Attorney paperwork (optional but strongly recommended)
	Complete the 3-step orientation: Online Confirmation Orientation (U of M students) Online Confirmation Orientation (Non U of M students) Mandatory online Health & Safety Orientation (emailed at a later time) In-person, Program-Specific Orientation (see the Program Dates & Fees page)
	Passport & Visa: All students must have a valid passport and visa in order to enter Kenya If you already have a passport, make sure that it is valid for the duration of the program, as well as up to six months after your return If you do not have a passport, apply for one as soon as possible; go to Travel Documents for more information For specific visa information, visit MSID Kenya's visa information page

Group Flight
The Learning Abroad Center organizes a group flight for all MSID programs. Students must travel on the group flight or arrive within 4–6 hours of the group flight. Group flights are announced in November and May. Students cannot arrive early or late to the program.
