Grade Posting Timeline

The Learning Abroad Center processes transcripts for resident credit programs within 6–8 weeks of grades being received from the program. Time between the end of the term abroad and receipt of grades in the Learning Abroad Center varies widely by program.

A student with extenuating circumstances may request a rush of their transcript. The student must notify the Learning Abroad Center and their on-site staff prior to the end their term abroad. The Learning Abroad Center makes every effort to expedite a transcript for legitimate circumstances such as graduation clearance, insurance eligibility, or financial aid or scholarship disbursement. A rush request is typically processed within two weeks of receipt by the Learning Abroad Center.

The Office of Admissions processes transfer credit for students participating on outside and transfer credit exchange programs. Once the transcript is received by the Office of Admissions, typical processing time is 8 to 12 weeks. Students may contact the Office of Admissions directly to determine if their transcript has been received and when it will be processed.

Non-University of Minnesota Participants

All non-University of Minnesota students have one official transcript sent to their home school as listed on the Transcript Request Form. It is the student’s responsibility to provide the accurate address of the official responsible for posting credit at their home school.

University of Minnesota transcripts are not released if a student has financial or other obligations to the U of M or study abroad program.

Requests for Additional Transcripts

One official transcript is provided for each non-University of Minnesota student. A student can request additional copies for a fee from the Office of the Registrar. More information is One Stop in the "Grades and Transcripts" section. Students need to download the printable copy of the transcript request and submit it via mail or fax to the Office of the Registrar.

Dean’s List

Dean's lists are determined shortly after grades are posted each term. Since grades for study abroad are typically posted long after the Dean's list has been run for the term, a student who wishes to have their study abroad grades considered for Dean's list eligibility should consult their college advising office after their study abroad grades have been posted to their University of Minnesota transcript.

Students who participate on programs that award transfer credit are ineligible for the Dean's list for their term abroad.
