The purpose of these scholarships is to encourage study abroad at the University of Minnesota by awarding scholarships to a large number of students. Funding comes from Central Administration and from private sources.
"I wanted to take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt gratitude to you and all those working to provide scholarships to U of M students. It is appreciated more than you know. I have always wanted to study abroad and my parents told me not to let finances be a reason to hold me back. The program I chose is very expensive, however, and we did not know how we were going to pay for it. This scholarship had enabled me the freedom to achieve the goal I have always dreamed of and helped me and my family very much financially.
I am writing to confirm that I will be attending my study-abroad program Fall 2008 and I would like to thank you again for your generosity and willingness to work towards improving students' college experience. Once again, thank you for all that you do."
